If you’re a Tom Waits fan, you’ve probably been getting teaser photos in your email all week announcing that something was coming on August 7th. Today, you finally found out what that was. Waits has released his video for “Hell Broke Luce,” an album track from last year’s Bad as Me. Longtime collaborator Matt Mahurin directed the video, which features the consistent concept of Waits hauling his home behind him in tow through apocalyptic landscapes. The video addresses the atrocities of war, as Waits delivers both lyrics of oddball humor and poignant sorrow, constantly invoking wartime imagery and terminology. Waits will probably always be a polarizing artist, but for those who are fans, the video perfectly represents all the dark, beautiful creativity that Waits harbors. Watch above.
